Originally bred to be hypoallergenic guide dogs by the Royal Guide Dogs Association of Australia, the Labradoodle is a crossbreed between Poodles and Labrador Retrievers. The result of this crossbreed was a smart, sociable, low-shedding dog.
The Labradoodle has a single coat with hair ranging from straight to loose curls. There are three types of texture for their coats which are the hair coat, a wool coat, and a fleece coat. These dogs tend to be non to low shedders, especially those with a fleece or wool coat. Their coats comes in a wide variety of colors which are gold, apricot, caramel, chalk, black, red, café, cream, silver, chocolate, parchment, and blue. They can also have parti-colored coats, which consist of brindles, phantom, patched or sable colors.
The dogs have big personalities and a typical day with one can be quite entertaining. They reflect the energy levels of their owners, but they still like to have something to do because they’re descendants of sporting dogs. A long walk or playing games with their dog parent is all they need to be happy. These dogs can happily co-exist with their feline friends and their calm and affectionate nature makes them great therapy dogs.
